- The computer educational systems will be open source programming. The learning programs and learning games will also be open source and free. CLDI research confirms that most of what is needed is available. If necessary, CLDI will get some components or links created.
- By making all IT systems open source CLDI makes the basic system available. Any charter school operator and staff can modify the system and lesson plans as desired.
- The CLDI systems will be turn-key and plug and play. User-friendly systems that the charted school can easily maintain, manage, and incorporate their educational lesson plans.
- The system will be a hard-wired virtual desktop system where students can log in at any work station and download their personal lesson plans.
- All students will be issued small tablet computers. (probably 7” tablets) The tablets will plugin into work stations to begin the login process.
- After signing in, the tablet will become a kind of a smart mouse touch screen in a duel screen operating system
- As the student makes progress, the server and the tablet will be updated with the student’s personal study plan so that, when disconnected from the work station, the student can do schoolwork directly on the tablet or at home, with the tablet connected to the student’s home computer.
- The work stations will be smart terminals for distributive processing to give the student faster response times and lessen the demand on the servers.
- The educational system will be able to evaluate where a student is having problems; where quiz questions are missed and where a student response time is slowing down. It will then group students who are having similar difficulties. Teachers can access this information and use the information when scheduling group-learning secessions in break out rooms.
- The system will run on the school’s intranet. The school will not need to incur the expense of internet access. Also, the students cannot access the internet, but rather only the learning programs and learning games being provided by the school.
- The Charter school may choose to have access to the internet for many reasons; however, the school’s basic educational system and learning programs will run more economically, and securely on the school’s intranet
