Objectives

The New School Model must be designed to improve the educational experience. In order to accomplish this we must first consider the limitations and problems with the currently available educational systems. There are two major problems with currently available systems.

I) Teacher proficiency and quality

Many teachers are high-quality teachers, regrettably, such teachers are in high demand because there simply are not enough to go around. This factor is particularly hard on schools in underprivileged neighborhoods. To maximize the utilization of high-quality teachers our New School Model incorporates two primary concepts.

  • Teaching teams: Having quality Teachers leading small teaching teams provides on the job training to all members of the team and encourages the assistant teacher’s skill growth
  • Computer-assisted learning: The more that a student can learn from computer learning programs and learning games the less teacher time is needed by the students and the better teacher time can be utilized.

II) Boredom

No Child Left Behind is a good concept, however, in the classroom, the result is progressing at the pace of the slowest child with the other 98% of the students being bored. Being bored in the classroom leads to misbehavior and fatigue. Boredom also extinguishes the student’s natural curiosities and love for learning.

  •  The pace at which a student can learn is a variable that we presently have no means to determine because we have never had an educational system capable of delivering content to the student at the student’s own pace.
  • Only now is coming available computer-assisted learning systems that are capable of providing a student with learning content as fast or as slow as the student can consume it.
  • A big problem with internet access is noise. There is too much information available. The learning programs must be in an orderly fashion and in the students custom learning plan to assist the student in staying focused to gain a meaningful education.
  •  The student needs human input and assistance to mentor, monitor, and tutor when the computer assisted learning system is lacking.

Properly designed and implemented the CIDI New School Model has the potential of substantially increasing the learning that a student can accomplish in any period of time. Bringing about the satisfaction of natural curiosities will increase the desire for learning.

There is little doubt that the average child is capable and desirous of learning at a pace of at least twice as fast as is presently available. Half of our children are above average in learning ability. How rapidly above average students can learn is anybody’s guess, however it is believed that we humans are presently only using about 6% of our mental capacity. CLDI New school model is designed to unlock this potential. The CLDI intent is a learning system that shall …
